Google has unveiled plans to offer free energy savings to consumers by switching to a new generation of electricity-generation technology.
Google’s new power-generation system, called Trieagle Energy, will be able to supply energy-efficient electricity to homes and businesses and to consumers as a cheaper alternative to solar panels and diesel engines.
Trieagle’s technology will be cheaper than current generation and could be cheaper even than wind and solar power, Google’s Chief Operating Officer, Mike Rosenberg, said at a conference on Tuesday.
Google expects Trieagles will be installed on 1.8 million homes and offices around the world by the end of 2019.
Google’s Trieogle Energy system, which is based on the new technology, is designed to help power businesses, homes and buildings.
“It will make a significant impact on our global electricity mix, providing power that is energy-saving while reducing greenhouse gas emissions,” Rosenberg said.
Treyagle’s energy technology uses “smart” sensors to monitor the location and shape of the electricity, then uses software to automatically calibrate the output, which will help save money.
The new energy system, Rosenberg said, will help reduce the carbon footprint of energy, which includes both electricity and natural gas.
Google is also using its technology to save consumers on bills for electricity, water, heating and cooling.
Tied to Google’s investment in renewable energy technology, the new energy technology is expected to cut greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 30 percent from a baseline level, and by half if it is implemented in the US, Google said.
The company’s new energy-savings system, however, is not just about cutting emissions.
Google said that it is also building an energy system to help businesses meet energy needs and meet climate change targets, as well as help people cut energy bills.
“We want to be an active part of a growing global conversation about how to create a sustainable future,” Rosenberg added.
