Duke Energy has bought out the Florida-based Heat Energy Drink company for $2.9bn.
Duke announced the sale today, confirming that it will buy the energy drink maker for $6.5bn.
The company was founded in 2009 by former Heat CEO Steve Janssen.
It produces energy drinks for the beverage industry including its own, and has more than 80 brands.
The company has a market cap of $6bn.
In September 2016, Heat Energy sold its Florida-focused business, including its Florida headquarters, to a subsidiary of global beverage company Coca-Cola for $1.8bn.
